Partner of the Oregon Food Bank is run by more than 70 volunteers to provide food for about 70 families each week

Jeff Merkley.At a Jan. 2 town hall at Gladstone High School, U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley of Oregon honored the Gladstone Food Pantry with the gift of a flag flown over the nation's capital.

The pantry, a partner of the Oregon Food Bank, is run by more than 70 volunteers. Last year it provided free food for 6,635 visitors, about 70 families each week.

Merkley's town hall was well-attended, including elected officials from the county commission and the Gladstone City Council, as well as students and staff from both Gladstone and Oregon City schools.
