Erik Richter officially joins Gladstone School Board
Erik Richter, first elected in May, was sworn in at last month's Gladstone School Board meeting alongside two sitting board members who ran in unopposed elections.
Running unopposed for the school board were Gladstone robotics coach Steve Stewart, appointed in June 2017; and Stacie Moncrief, a principal in the David Douglas School District who was appointed to the Gladstone School Board last year.
Richter, senior information technology manager for U.S. Bank, won the open seat on the board by getting nearly 56% of the May 21 vote against local activist Bill Osburn. The race was a quiet one, with both candidates promising to keep an eye on budgets.
A fromer member of the Gladstone School District Budget Committee, Richter has three children: one a graduate of Gladstone High School, one a senior at GHS and one starting sixth grade at Kraxberger Middle School.
Richter was sworn in as the representative for GSD's Position 5, which was held by Kristin Eaton, who had served on the board since 2007.
"As a school board member, I will put my experience maintaining budgets, writing policy, implementing continuous improvements, and motivating people to good use for this community," Richter said. "I want to help Gladstone schools make continuous changes that bring progress and growth."
