Clackamas County sex criminal sentenced to 16 years
Wayne Arthur Silsbee pleaded guilty Wednesday, Aug. 28, in Clackamas County Circuit courtroom to multiple sex crimes that occurred during the 1990s and was sentenced to more than 16 years in prison.
After 23 years on the run, the 62-year-old man had walked into the Oregon City Police Department and turned himself in on May 10. He had sexually assaulted several young girls who were 8-10 from September 1995 to April 1996 in Clackamas County.
"Silsbee was acquainted with each of the minor victims, having either babysat for them or taken them to various events," police say.
Silsbee pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree sodomy, two counts of first-degree sex abuse and one count of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration. He was sentenced to 200 months in prison.
The warrant for his arrest was first filed July 24, 1996. The FBI joined the case a month later, in order to use federal resources to investigate the case.
Silsbee was known to be living in Nebraska recently, and is also said to have ties to Springfield, Missouri, the San Francisco Bay Area, Colorodo, Arizona and northwestern Washington state.
