Officials seek to fill Position 1 after a resignation in order to take job with district

The Gladstone School Board is seeking applicants to fill the position vacated by Nicole Couzens, who left Couzensthe role in order to teach at John Wetten Elementary.

Couzens, a former education manager at Head Start, had to resign from the School Board when she became a first-grade teacher in the Gladstone School District this fall. District employees are not allowed to serve on the board.

Interested community members are invited to apply to fill the vacancy. The remaining six board members will interview applicants on Monday, Oct. 7, and plan to appoint the new member on Oct. 9.

Applicants must be a registered voter and have resided within Gladstone School District boundaries for at least a year prior to the planned appointment date. The next school board election is May 19, 2021, and the appointee may choose whether to run for a four-year term.
