Damascus residents celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary
Damascus residents Eugene and Charlotte Packard are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary this week.
Married Sept. 17, 1949, at Saint Michael Catholic Church in Sandy, the Packards have family members who were planning a surprise celebration.
Eugene worked in the lumber industry and was a truck driver. After he retired from driving, he worked for the Damascus Safeway, retiring again in 2018 at age 90. Charlotte worked as a homemaker, raising three daughters — Teresa Fisher, Deborah Driscolla and Janice Packard — who still live in Damascus.
Eugene and Charlotte Packard have three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
