7 Black Rock Coffee Bar locations giving 15% of sales to education foundation this Halloween

In a show of support for students, teachers and families in the North Clackamas School Distict, seven Black Rock Coffee Bar locations will donate 15% of all sales this Halloween to the North Clackamas Education Foundation (NCEF).

With the recent passage of the Student Success Act and some increased funding for schools, Black Rock's owner and NCEF Executive Director Stephanie Rose are still concerned about gaps in federal and state funding and how it has affected schools in recent years.

Starting in the 2017/18 school year, NCEF pledged to raise $1 million for schools over five years, and Rose reported that they have already reached $480,000.

"Our goal is to blow that goal out of the water, and we're hopeful that we will," Rose said.

With customers often coming from local schools, Black Rock's owner is eager to give back and show support for North Clackamas schools. Black Rock employees over the years have attended all of the different high schools in the district, and Black Rock's owner has found that parents and teachers look out for the schools.

NCEF supports programs such as Lunch Buddies and the Wichita Center for Family & Community, and awards grants to teachers in all district schools and scholarships to graduating seniors.

Even with some increases for school funding expected, budgets are getting cut for certain educational programs, fundraiser organizers noted. More people continue moving to Oregon every year, so Black Rock sees a need to keep fighting to help local children get a proper education.

Participating locations include:

Clackamas - 16138 S.E. 82nd Drive

Johnson Creek/82nd - 8325 S.E. Augusta National Ave;
