Despite COVID-19 closures, free food available for children, Red Cross needs blood donations, Oregon City Farmers Market now a drive-thru preorder service

Wednesday, April 8

DONATE BLOOD: From 2-7 p.m. at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1321 Linn Ave., Oregon City. Make an appointment to donate by visiting or calling 800-733-2767.

KIDS EAT FREE IN OREGON CITY: A grab-and-go lunch (with a breakfast bar for the next day) for all children ages 18 and under is available noon-1 p.m. Monday-Friday during the school closure period at Candy Lane Elementary School, Eastham Community Center, Gardiner Middle School, Holcomb Elementary School and Kingsberry Heights Apartments.

FREE FOOD IN GLADSTONE: Gladstone's free meal program is shifting to once-a-week pickup of five breakfasts and five lunches per youth from 9 a.m.-noon at the Gladstone Center for Children and Families, 18905 Portland Ave. This will allow a wider variety of food, including heat-and-eat items like chicken nuggets or pizza. One person can pick up for the whole family. Kids don't need to be with you.

KIDS EAT FREE IN NORTH CLACKAMAS: Preboxed food packages are available from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 28 at the Wichita Center. Meals are available for all district students who need them from 9-10:30 a.m. weekdays through April 28 at Clackamas High, Milwaukie High, Rex Putnam High, Alder Creek Middle, Ardenwald Elementary, Bilquist Elementary, Lewelling Elementary, Linwood Elementary, Oak Grove Elementary, View Acres Elementary and Whitcomb Elementary.

DRUGS FOR SENIORS: Milwaukie police are offering free prescription pickup and delivery service for the most at-risk seniors. Officers will deliver to private residences in the city from pharmacies at Rite Aid, Safeway and Walgreens. The service is for people 60 and older and who have serious medical conditions. Residents should call the police department, 503-786-7400, between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday.

OREGON CITY FARMERS MARKET: The Oregon City Farmers Market is operating as a preorder drive-thru only until further notice, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays at the corner of Beavercreek and Kaen roads, on the Clackamas County Red Soils Campus. The market's booth is still accepting SNAP Cards with a $20 match to help vulnerable families with preorders through April. Preorder info for drive-through pickup available at
