Gladstone School District names new director of early learning
Sarah Dunkin will be the new director of early learning at the Gladstone Center for Children and Families starting in July.
Jere Applebee, the center's director for the past three years, is retiring after a long career with Gladstone schools, where he also served as assistant principal at John Wetten Elementary and athletic director at Gladstone High School.
Dunkin is a veteran educator with 23 years experience as an elementary school teacher and a literacy specialist. Most recently, she has served as the early learning coordinator for the Beaverton School District.
"We are excited to add Sarah to the Gladstone family," said Superintendent Bob Stewart. "She brings a depth of experience and a history of success with young learners and partner organizations."
"I look forward to joining the Gladstone community and contributing to the excellence of this district," Dunkin said. "I am excited to share the early learning, literacy and leadership skills I have developed to this new experience and welcome the opportunity to serve the Gladstone Center for Children and Families."
The mother of two teens, Dunkin is a Portland resident active in CrossFit.
