Senior at school in Milwaukie area selling T-shirts featuring her drawings of Oregon on fire

"It's pretty disheartening to see it being burned to the ground," she said.

After seeing how hard firefighters worked to save lives, homes and trees, the student at the Milwaukie-area school decided she wanted to show her support for them.

"The firefighters are working endlessly to put the fires out, and all I wanted to do was help," she said. "Making a shirt was the first thing that came to mind."

She pulled out her iPad and sketched out a few scenes: one features green trees under a sky red with fire and the words "Keep Oregon Green!" Another features yellow flames scattered on a green drawing of Oregon and the words "Prevent Wildfires!" The art, says Mackenzie, "symbolizes the beauty of our state on fire."

To buy Mackenzie's T-shirts for $25 each, contact @mackenziegreenslade on Instagram or go to her page at https://venmo.com/Mackenzie-Greenslade. Proceeds will go to Colton Rural Fire Protection District #70, a volunteer fire department that protects 46 square miles between Molalla and Estacada.

"I wanted to do my part," she said, "and I need you to help me do it!"
