Gladstone High School honors Veterans Day with video
Gladstone High School students refused to let the COVID-19 pandemic get in the way of the school's annual Veteran's celebration. The performance is posted at youtu.be/7YNaY9CUDDo.
While the community could not gather for the traditional schoolwide assembly and music performance, Gladstone High School choirs joined forces to record a video performance.
"The Veteran's Day assembly is one of my most favorite events of the year," said Choir Director Josh Weir. "It's so important to thank those who served and made sacrifices for our nation."
Because choir classes cannot meet in person, students have been rehearsing remotely.
Students used a program called SoundTrap to record their individual sound tracks using Chromebook computers or smart phones.
Weir then pulled all the separate tracks into one piece and mixed the recording so the voices became a virtual choir.
The concert includes The Star Spangled Banner performed by Taylor Brady, Weir's performance of God Bless the USA, a guest speaker, and the Armed Forces Medley performed by the Chorale and Acapella Choir.
