COURTESY: OUTSIDE THE FRAME - Riders of the Storm, a documentary showcase featuring works by unhoused youth, will take place Thursday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.Nonprofit organization Outside the Frame, a program providing filmmaking and documentary training to youth experiencing homelessness and other forms of marginalization, will be hosting a documentary showcase featuring works of houseless youth made over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Riders in the Storm: Good Films About a Bad Year will be held in-person at 7 p.m on Thursday, Sept. 30, at the Hollywood Theatre in Portland.

The event's lineup will feature the documentary "Riders on the Storm," directed by Nili Yosha, founder, artistic and executive director of the program and filmed by program alumni Makayla Caldwell, program alumni Narci Smith and professional filmmaker Ben Bach. The approximately nine-minute documentary depicts an Oregon Metro employee's efforts to help a couple in Clackamas County secure housing during the unprecedented wildfire season of 2020.

"The core of our program is just to provide opportunities for youth to make movies about whatever's on their heart, whatever they need to say," Yosha said.

"It's people getting to tell their own story on their own terms, usually stories that don't get heard otherwise," she added.
