This year's set includes 16 titles for third- through fifth-graders participating this year. The Oregon Battle of the Books seeks to encourage and recognize students who enjoy reading, to broaden reading interests, to increase reading comprehension, promote academic excellence, and to promote cooperative learning and teamwork among students.

In addition to funds donated, Rotary Club of Milwaukie members hope to volunteer and help proctor the final "Battle of the Books" competition currently scheduled for next spring, tentatively scheduled in person. For the last four years, Milwaukie Rotary has provided funds and volunteers for several North Clackamas elementary schools in the Milwaukie area.
