Milwaukie Porchfest's informal mini-concerts to return this July
Milwaukie's third-annual Porchfest will enliven front yards across the city for three Friday evenings this summer, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on July 15, 22 and 29.
Porchfest invites community members to create music from their own homes, or walk and bike around Milwaukie neighborhoods to enjoy the sights and sounds. Singers, dancers, bagpipers, guitar players, actors, magicians — anyone with a talent is encouraged to perform on their porch, yard or driveway and fill Milwaukie with performance art.
Because traditional concerts were not possible during the pandemic, these informal mini-concerts — decentralized across the city — encouraged people to keep moving and enjoy an outdoor experience.
Porchfest 2020 included 84 mini-concerts throughout Milwaukie over four Fridays. Performers included bagpipers, an improv troupe, several rock bands, two brass quintets and an outdoor drag show.
The Milwaukie Arts Committee, which organizes the series, provides a list and map of performances online at milwaukieporchfest.com.
