The Kingsmen graduated eight seniors from last season's team that finished fourth in the 5A Northwest Oregon Conference

REVIEW/NEWS PHOTO: - Putnam's Jack Mathews (left) closes on Roman Quick during Wednesday morning's boys' soccer workout at Putnam High School.Putnam High School's boys' soccer team took a hit at the end of last season when eight seniors graduated from the varsity team that went 2-3-2 in the Northwest Oregon Conference and finished 5-9-2 overall after reaching the opening round of the Class 5A playoffs.

There are a number of holes in the Kingsmen's lineup, including a few that could get filled by some extremely talented incoming freshmen.

This week's conditioning workouts give way to the "official" start of training camp on Monday when the battle for varsity roster spots gets serious.

The Kingsmen are scheduled to host an Aug. 26 jamboree with South Albany and Sweet home, and then kick off the regular season on Sept. 5 at home with a non-conference game against Liberty.

Putnam opens NWOC play on Sept. 28 at home against Wilsonville.
