The Pioneers scored the go-ahead touchdown with less than a minute to play in the first half of Friday's NWOC showdown

Ryan Escareno added a 37-yard field goal and King threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Levin Rotzien in the third quarter as the Pioneers (3-1, 2-0 NWOC) scored 23 unanswered points after falling behind 12-3.

Milwaukie's Noah Ramirez capped the game's opening drive with an 8-yard touchdown run, and Grey Andreasen-VanOtten added an 18-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, but the Mustangs (2-1, 1-1) also lost two fumbles that set up two Sandy scoring drives.

King ignited Sandy's comeback with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Glynne McGaughey at the end of a drive that saw the Pioneers convert a third-and-13 play and another fourth-and-2 situation.

Sandy defensive lineman Alejandro Castro Chase then forced a fumble that Graham recovered at the Milwaukie 20-yard line, setting up the go-ahead touchdown drive that gave the Pioneers a 16-12 halftime lead.

For the game, King completed 21 of 27 passes for 215 yards and three touchdowns. Nolan Turin finished with seven receptions for a game-high 89 yards receiving, and McGaughey had four catches for 46 yards.

Logan LaPine led Milwaukie's ground game with five carries for 49 yards, Andreasen-VanOtten had seven carries for 43 yards, and Chazz Amundson added six carries for 36 yards.
