Prep football: Oregon City dumps Barlow, 49-14, runs string to five
Oregon City's Teron Bradford and Zakayas Dennis-Lee scored three touchdowns each as the Pioneers ran their winning streak to five games with a 49-14 Mt. Hood Conference road win over the Bruins in Gresham.
The Pioneers' dynamic duo reached the end zone in a variety of ways, Bradford scoring on a 68-yard punt return, a 2-yard run, and a 31-yard pass from Austin Bonner, and Dennis-Lee scoring on an 8-yard run, a 52-yard run, and a 70-yard kickoff return.
Ethan Kassebaum added a 37-yard touchdown run for the Pioneers (5-1, 4-0 Mt. Hood), who remained tied for first place with Clackamas.
The Pioneers opened a 25-0 halftime lead and carried a shutout into the fourth quarter when Barlow's Jaren Hunter threw touchdown passes of 13 yards to Cole Edmondson and 32 yards to Colton Thompson in the final five minutes.
Dennis-Lee, the junior tailback, finished with 12 carries for a game-high 121 yards rushing, and caught two passes for 23 yards. Kassebaum added 13 carries for 110 yards, while Bonner completed 7 of 12 passes for 79 yards.
The Pioneers have outscored their last five opponents 246-68 and are currently averaging 42.2 points a game to rank fifth among the state's Class 6A teams in points scored, trailing only Jesuit (51.0), Clackamas (49.8), Sprague (48.3) and Sheldon (45.0).
Oregon City returns home Thursday to face Central Catholic (4-2, 3-1) in a 7 p.m. game at Pioneer Memorial Stadium, while Barlow (2-4, 1-3) visits Centennial (2-4, 1-3).
