La Salle Prep rides quarterback play to 41-30 road win at Cascade
La Salle Prep quarterback Ethan Edgerly had 19 carries for 240 yards and two touchdowns, and completed 8 of 9 passes for 91 yards and two scores, leading the Falcons to a 41-30 non-conference road win Friday over the Cougars in Turner.
Edgerly threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Casey Green and then tossed a 40-yard scoring strike to James Menor as La Salle Prep (1-1) erased an early 7-0 deficit to take a 14-13 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, Edgerly added a 59-yard touchdown run and JaJuan Lane scored on a 12-yard run to help break the game open.
"That was probably the most physical game that we've played in the five years I've coached here," Falcons coach Aaron Hazel said. "Cascade doesn't hide what they're going to do. They run right at you and kind of tell you, 'We're going to be tougher than you,' but our kids answered the bell.
"We knew it was going to take us a series or two to get used to the playing conditions. They punched us in the mouth a little bit when they scored first, and then we got the ball and scored quickly to take the lead."
Lane, the 5-foot-10, 190-pound junior, finished with 21 carries for 123 yards.
On defense, junior linebacker Ryan Bjorvik led the Falcons with 11 tackles, Green added nine tackles from his linebacker position, and senior lineman Jordan Carnahan had six tackles.
