The Gladiators put the first four touchdowns on the board to pass test in their league opener

PAMPLIN MEDIA: DAVID BALL - Gladstones Austin Conner celebrates with teammates after returning a fumble 16 yards for a touchdown and a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

District 2 game

Team Score
Gladstone (2-2)
#1 Estacada (3-1)

Both sides were spinning their wheels early before Gladstone dug in and steam rolled Estacada for a 42-22 win in Friday's clash of contenders to being the Special District 2 league season.

The teams traded four straight three-and-outs before the Gladiators gained some traction with Ben Hill finding his way through the middle to convert third-and-10 before being pulled down inside the 5-yard line. Gladstone scored on the next play when Mason Scheehean zipped around the right side and slipped inside the pylon.

Another touchdown was only moments away.

Estacada bobbled a ball on the turf on its next play from scrimmage, and Gladstone's Austin Conner swooped in, scooped it up and dashed 16 yards to the end zone where he was mobbed by teammates.

The Gladiators were well on their way to victory.

Gladstone would extend its lead to 28-0 before Estacada got on the scoreboard in the third quarter.

Gladstone (2-2) travels to The Dalles (1-3) for a 7 p.m. game Friday, while Estacada (3-1) hosts No. 3-ranked Woodburn (4-0).
