La Salle Prep sophomore Addi Wedin crashed the boards and put a third-chance bucket over the side of the rim late in the first quarter. Little did she know that she had just scored the winning basket in the Falcons 69-15 landslide win over North Bend to open the 5A girls basketball playoffs Saturday afternoon.

La Salle put on the pressure from the opening tip with Amanda Sisul crashing the center circle to pick off a pass before assisting Wedin on a layup for a quick 7-0 lead.

Alyson Miura got in on the action next, poking a ball loose in the backcourt and spinning toward the hoop. Teammate Mia Skoro scooped up the steal and fired a quick pass over the top to Miura for an easy two.

Moments later, Miura swiped a steal and took this one to the rim herself to make it 14-2 Falcons, while fans were still finding their way through the gym doors.

"Our press was intense and urgent," La Salle coach Kelli Wedin said. "We moved together and made great reads."

The first quarter ended with North Bend getting hit with a technical foul for leaving a sixth player on the court. Wedin sank the free throw, then fought for her third-chance bucket, and the Falcons would have all the points they would need.

The second quarter was much of the same with Miura stealing a ball and staying a step ahead of the defense for a breakaway layup. On the next trip, she drove a step inside the free-throw line and converted a long-range floater.

Later in the quarter, she put on a crossover move that left her defender at the arc, opening a wide path for her to finish at the front of the hoop.

To that point in the game, La Salle's defense had forced as many 10-second half-court violations, as North Bend had made baskets.

The one-sided matchup continued into the second half when Wedin splashed down a corner 3, and Lindsay Drango ripped a ball out of a North Bend player's grasp and fed a pass to teammate Jessica Loboy for a layup.

The Falcons were up 54-5 before North Bend hit its first bucket of the second half.

La Salle (22-4) advances to the 5A quarterfinals where it will face Mid-Willamette runner-up Silverton (21-3) at 3:15 p.m. Thursday at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis.

"We have given ourselves the opportunity to continue to fulfill our goals and dreams and compete against the best teams in the state," Wedin said.
