Hut Shuttle eases Oregon City trips to airport
Summer is almost here, and for many people, it's time for a special family vacation.
For those who plan to fly to a destination and worry about how to get to and from Portland International Airport, Eric Maddux has the solution: Hut Shuttle.
The shuttle now leaves every two hours from the Best Western Plus Rivershore Hotel in Oregon City.
"The company started in 1973 out of Salem, and my grandfather operated it for years," Maddux said.
His grandfather's last name was Hutmacher, but he just used the first three letters of his name for the shuttle service.
In the early 1990s, Maddux's mother and stepfather bought the company. They wanted to expand into other locations, so they purchased Anthony's Shuttle Service, based out of Corvallis, and then expanded into Eugene.
Now, Maddux is buying the business from his mother and has included Oregon City in the shuttle's itinerary.
It's "a great location because it's close to Tualatin and West Linn and other cities," Maddux said. "Oregon City felt like a great meeting point for the metro area."
