Letters for May 1
A few years ago, the Clackamas River Water (CRW) district board was a mess, with rogue board members engaging in fruitless legal wrangling.
Ratepayer Naomi Angier led the recall petition drive that passed with 93% voter support. Naomi was then elected as CRW commissioner and has served as their board president and secretary, restoring civilly responsible leadership.
I've known Naomi over 30 years, and as a CRW ratepayer, I fully support her for re-election.
Shelley McCoy for OC schools
The upcoming Oregon City School Board elections are pivotal for our schools. We have an opportunity as a community to elect officials who truly value safe and welcoming schools for all of our students. We need board members who put our students first and understand the financial crisis that our schools are facing. Shelley McCoy is that person.
Shelley has served on the district's budget committee for five years. An accountant by trade, she has a deep understanding of what the district has to work with and where the shortfalls are. Shelley values spending our tax money wisely, while ensuring our students are getting the best education we can afford to provide them.
Shelley has volunteered countless hours in our schools. She donates both her time and money to give students access to a well-rounded school experience. Time and again Shelley has stepped up to assist teachers with projects that would otherwise go unfunded; projects that really resonate with students and engage them in their learning process.
Shelley recently served as the treasurer for the successful school bond campaign and is ready to help the district move forward. Let's elect Shelley McCoy.
