Mandy Wells is the owner of Food on Demand, a food delivery service in Oregon City

I would like to tell my story as a mother who owns a small business in Oregon City.

Buying the name Food on Demand in August of 2018, I had no clue what in the world I was doing. Food delivery seemed like such a utilized service! Boy, was I wrong.

Mandy WellsIn starting up as the new "mom boss" of Food On Demand, I quickly learned that all the restaurants listed on my service had an upcharge to their menu, as well as didn't agree to be a part of the delivery service. I quickly started removing restaurants, which in return lowered my number of daily orders.

Quickly I started working harder than ever, researching other food-delivery services. Then I decided to change my direction and how I wanted to be seen. I now consider what I do a community outreach.

I started with one partner in August who agreed to work with me and let me deliver their amazing food. Now nine months later I am proud and honored to say I have 22 partners working with me.

None of these amazing restaurants have a menu upcharge, and we offer the lowest delivery fees in town. What you see is what you get.

I have gained the respect of all my fantastic small family-owned business partners. I take pride advertising for them, showing off amazing meals that my amazing community orders from them.

Our Food on Demand Facebook page isn't just about delivering. I post inspirational quotes or heart-warming videos. I have a different idea about "food delivery." I have a mother's heart, a friend's soul, an each-one-can-reach-one mentality.

I've kept the same drivers the last nine months; they are why I am able to do what I do. My drivers are the face of Food on Demand, they are passionate, caring, humble and always go the extra mile. They enjoy doing what they do for our community.

We are so different from other delivery services, because we have these drivers. Our community knows them and who's bringing their dinner to their door. I don't know about you, but I want to know who is bringing me my dinner, in addition to receiving orders in a timely fashion.

I plan on changing the entire food-delivery service by what I'm doing in creating a strong community-support system of small family-owned businesses. Community members can order delicious dinners from our partnered restaurants and give back to the community. Be the change with Food on Demand, order and support local.
