Reelecting Falconer is right move for Milwaukie
Over the past four years I've had the honor of serving on the Milwaukie City Council with Angel Falconer. I can't imagine a more dedicated, intelligent, thoughtful city councilor than Angel. She has the unique ability to be as tough as nails and yet as deeply caring as anyone I know.
Her leadership was instrumental in building the new Ledding Library, as it was in the creation of our Safe Routes to School program that she began working on as the chair of the Public Safety Advisory Committee long before she was elected to council.
That was not her first committee — her dedication to Milwaukie is longstanding.
On the critical issues our council has addressed over the past four years, Angel has provided deep wisdom and evenhandedness.
We were the first city in the state to enact a construction excise tax (CET) to raise money for affordable housing, and to declare a climate state of emergency after passing one of the strongest climate action plans in the state. Angel has helped lead the city in addressing longstanding racial inequities.
Milwaukie would be well served to reelect Angel Falconer so that we have the best, most experienced team possible going forward.
Mark Gamba is the mayor of Milwaukie.
