I'm writing to encourage your readers to vote yes for Clackamas kids, Measure 3-564. This measure provides a dedicated funding source for the county to ensure a safety net for all kids therein.
Child abuse and trauma are, unfortunately, realities throughout our state. Challenges, such as inconsistent school experiences, employment stressors, food insecurity and lack of affordable family health care options mean many families are struggling. Children deserve a safety net to ensure they can grow up and thrive.
To meet the needs of children, solutions will look different across our state. In Clackamas County, a coalition came together to find a common-sense approach to meeting the needs of local kids. Service providers, business leaders, elected officials, advocates, faith communities and culturally-specific providers — as well as people with lived experience of child abuse and neglect, domestic violence and trauma experienced as children — were all a part of the development of Measure 3-564.
Vote yes. Send a powerful message to Clackamas kids and their families. Ensuring their well-being matters.
