Letter: Only candidates coming out relatively untarnished from the Oct. 9 article were Annessa Hartman and Andrew Labonte

The only candidates who came out relatively untarnished from the Oct. 9 article "Controversy dominates Gladstone City Council races" were Annessa Hartman and Andrew Labonte, who promise an independent voice for Gladstone. Both approach government with care and the respect that it deserves for different reasons — Labonte to continue his legacy of service and safety, and Annessa to bring this community together for everyone.

It is our responsibility to provide the resources and attention needed to give Gladstone a respectable newspaper. If you are reading this and have not yet subscribed to Clackamas Review, do your part and pitch in today. Volunteer stories that are worthy of our city and its vibrancy, and hold its writers — and our leaders — to higher standards. Read and share the Clackamas Review. Make your voice be heard to create a Gladstone where we all are informed, feel welcome and safe.

Ben Hildner is a Gladstone resident and Gerry Blakney lives in Jennings Lodge.

You count on us to stay informed and we depend on you to fund our efforts. Quality local journalism takes time and money. Please support us to protect the future of community journalism.
