Christina Piasky: Angie Wacker promotes 'safe environment'
My daughter has been trained by Angie Wacker for over five years. We have leased a horse and now board our horses at Wacker Performance Horses. I am very happy my daughter is in a safe environment at Wacker's barn and coached by an expert who cares about the athletes and the horses.
This year my daughter will be a freshman on the OHSET team coached by Angie Wacker. Before agreeing to have my daughter join OHSET, I sat down and read the OHSET rules, which are set by a state board that Angie is not part of. OHSET is not governed by OSAA (like football, soccer, etc).
I strongly encourage everyone to read the rules and base your "judgment" off of those. From what I see, Angie followed all OHSET rules and regulations set out by the state board. I also have read numerous times that the state OHSET board is more than willing to update all rules and regulations to comply with the Oregon Government Ethics Commission requests, and have asked for the committee's guidance.
I have not seen an unsafe/bullying situation at Wacker Performance Horses or by Angie. I ask that you please get to the "facts" of the parties involved and that there is a "reasonable" outcome that promotes our high school athletes and that OHSET has a future with Angie Wacker as a coach.
Destroying OHSET because your child has graduated or didn't win is not conducive to a good community, and I'd hope that folks could move forward together.
