Dave Hedges: Police Department wishes to gratefully thank everyone who has donated

In November, Milwaukie Police Department decided to replace the current K9 officer with a new dog. Officers went to the kennels in California that the PD has used before and picked out a Dutch shepherd as Milwaukie's new K9 officer. Milwaukie Public Safety Foundation covered the $12,930 cost of purchasing the dog and already have paid for him. His kennel name is Benz, and he will be 3 years old Dec. 29.

This is the third K9 MPSF has purchased for the Milwaukie Police Department, and they and us wish to gratefully thank everyone who has donated, walked and helped us to raise the funds to be able to do so.

With no opportunity to raise funds during COVID, we really appreciate the generosity of everyone in previous years, which resulted in us having the funds available to buy Benz. It is the businesses and citizens of Milwaukie who made this possible, and we thank you all very much.

Dave Hedges is secretary/treasurer of the Milwaukie Public Safety Foundation.
