Resident says Gladstone, Oak Lodge libraries have fun for kids
In case you haven't heard, there's a marvelous array of entertainment treats for kids at the Oak Lodge and Gladstone libraries this summer. Puppet shows. Juggling. Comedy. Taiko drumming. And much more!
Wonderful Wednesdays start at 11:30 a.m. at the Gladstone Center for Children and Families, 18905 Portland Ave., through July 27, and then at the Gladstone Library, 135 E. Dartmouth St., through Aug. 24.
July 27 — Trip But Don't Fall, featuring comedy by Hank the Circus Chicken. Kids get free lunch from 11 a.m.-noon at this Gladstone event date.
Aug. 3 — Good Stories From All Over, tales of adventure, enchantment, humor, and suspense told by Christopher Leebrick.
Aug. 10 — no performance this week.
Aug. 17 — Cryptozoology Puppet Show, Shawnery Connery is on a monster quest to discover cryptids.
Aug. 24 — Angel Ocasio's Comedy, a zany comedy combination of magic, music, juggling and audience participation.
Fun Day Fridays are happening starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Oak Lodge Library, 16201 S.E. McLoughlin Blvd., through Aug. 26. Kids can get a free lunch from 11 a.m.-noon at all of these Oak Lodge events.

Aug. 12 — Camp Ocean, search for buried treasure and dive into the ocean's mysteries.
Aug. 19 — Takohachi, Japanese drumming, music and stories.
Aug. 26 — Angel Ocasio's Comedy, a zany comedy combination of magic, music, juggling and audience participation.
There are also craft-kit giveaways. While supplies last, take-home craft kits for kids appear on the second Sunday of each month and are available at both the Gladstone and Oak Lodge public libraries. Most supplies and instructions are included.
Summer is a special time for learning, laughter and wonderment. Cultural and arts events make lasting impressions. Each summer, Oak Lodge and Gladstone libraries serve up memorable enrichment delights in a comfortable, intimate setting just right for kids. Masks are optional at these events. Free lunch is provided for kids 18 and under at some events.
