William A. Kirk Sr., 75, was arrested in 2016 for sodomizing victims between 4 and 7 years old

William A. Kirk Sr., 75, a Milwaukie resident who was recently convicted on 27 counts of sodomy and sexual abuse, died while in prison on Sept. 25.

William A. KirkKirk was essentially serving a life sentence, since his earliest release date from Oregon State Penitentiary was set for 2071, when he would have been 127 years old. He died in the prison infirmary while receiving hospice care.

Kirk, then 72, and his 26-year-old grandson, Troy L. Kirk Jr., were arrested on multiple counts of first-degree sodomy and sex-abuse charges in 2016. The investigation began in 2015 by Oregon State Police out of Bend. During the course of the OSP investigation, it was discovered that many of the crimes that the Kirks committed took place in Milwaukie.

Milwaukie police contacted two juveniles and interviewed them in regards to the allegations. The victims were known to the Kirks and believed to have been between 4 and 7 years old at the time of the abuse.

Kirk Jr. was sentenced to 12 years in prison in July 2017.
