Writers Night

The 16th annual Writers Night, sponsored by the Estacada Area Arts Commission, begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Springwater Grange, 24591 S. Springwater Road. This year's event features readings from hosts Joanna Rose and Stevan Allred, and novelists Kristin Kaye and Julia Stoops. A question-and-answer session follows the reading, and Allred invites the entire audience to his home for an after-party.

Baked Potato Feed

Eagle Creek Presbyterian Church plans its "Great Loaded Baked Potato Feed" from 3:30-7 p.m. Friday, May 4. Cost is $5 per person, and proceeds benefit the Estacada Backpack Buddies program.

RIOT Dance and

Cheer Spring Bazaar

The Estacada High School RIOT Dance and Cheer Team Spring Bazaar will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Estacada High School, 355 N.E. Sixth Ave. More than 30 vendors will participate.

Yoga Classes

Beginning Vinyasa and Hatha yoga classes are held at 2:30 p.m. Mondays and 7 p.m. Tuesdays at the Voila Community Club, 22364 S. Redland Road. Classes are suited for all skill levels. The cost is $5 per class.

Garden Club

The Estacada Garden Club meets from 1-3 p.m. the second Thursday of the month in the Flora Room at the Estacada Public Library, 825 N.W. Wade St. Visitors and new members are welcome.

Quilt Club

The Skip-a-Week club meets from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays at the Garfield Grange, 33460 S.E. Divers Road. For information, call 503-630-4669.

Spinning Group

The Estacada spinning and fiber arts group meets from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Fridays at Betty Veveiros CPA, 309 S.W. Highway 224.

Texas Hold'em Poker

A free Texas Hold'em Poker game is from 7-9 p.m. every Thursday at the Country Restaurant, 341 Main St. Another game of mad poker is at 7 p.m. Mondays at the Cazadero Inn, 352 S.W. Highway 224. Prizes are included.

Food Bank

The Estacada Area Food Bank is open from 10-11:45 a.m. and 12:30-3:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays. Food is available monthly to community members in Estacada, Eagle Creek, Colton, Carver and Barton who meet income requirements. To join the all-volunteer organization or to get food, call 503-630-2888 or stop by the Food Bank at 272 Broadway St.

Conversation Project

The Oregon Humanities Conversation Project event, "Talking About Dying," is at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 19, in the Flora Room. The event is free.

Poetry Share

At 2 p.m. Sunday, April 22, in the Flora Room, community members are invited to share their own poetry or favorite poem.

Language Exchange

Practice your Spanish skills at a friendly environment in the library's Flora Room. The event is scheduled from 1-2 p.m. May 5 and May 19.

A-Z Storytime

A-Z storytime is scheduled for 11 a.m. to noon every Wednesday. The event is an opportunity for children ages infant to 4 to learn the alphabet through reading, singing and playing.

Storytime Playgroup

The Me & My Preschool Storytime Playgroup takes place from 10:30 a.m. to noon every Friday.

Music and Movement Storytime

Me & My Music, a music and movement focused storytime, is held from 11 a.m. to noon on Mondays. The program helps children develop early literacy skills through sound and rhythm using song, story and instruments.


Alcoholics Anonymous

An Alcoholics Anonymous group meets from 7-8 p.m. every Thursday at the Assembly of God Church, 478 N.W. Wade St. Another AA group meets from 7-8:30 p.m. Mondays and Fridays at the church annex at 297 N.W. Broadway St. This group also holds a speaker's meeting on the first Friday of the month.

Narcotics Anonymous

A Narcotics Anonymous group meets at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at 295 N.W. Wade St. Call 503-290-4507 for more information.

Grief share

The Grief Share group is there for people who have lost a close friend or loved one, helping to turn mourning into acceptance and to remind them of the joy that remains in life. Grief Share meets from 2-4 p.m. Mondays and 4-6 p.m. Thursdays at Clackamas Valley Baptist Church, 29275 S.E. Eagle Creek Road.


City Council

The Estacada City Council meets at 7 p.m. Monday, April 23, at City Hall, 475 S.E. Main St. Call 503-630-8270.

School Board

The Estacada School Board meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, in the Estacada High School music room, 355 N.E. Sixth Ave.

Estacada Rural CPO

The Estacada Rural CPO meets at 7 p.m. Friday, April 27, at the Estacada Fire Administrative Building, 445 S.E. Currin St. New members are always welcome. For more information, call Carol Coyle at 503-753-9212.

Chamber Lunch

The next Estacada Chamber of Commerce Leadership Luncheon is scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at City Hall, 475 S.E. Main St. Doors open at 11:45 a.m. Mayor Sean Drinkwine will give an update on the city. Lunch is $10 for chamber members and $15 for non-members. Cemetery District

The Estacada Cemetery District meets at 4 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at City Hall, 475 S.E. Main St. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 3.

Volunteer opportunities

The Center needs volunteers for many different jobs, including Meals on Wheels drivers, drivers to medical appointments, kitchen and dining room help, answering phones and greeting visitors, and yard work. Call 503-630-7454 for more information on how to volunteer.

Weekday lunches and games

Lunch is served in the center's dining room for all ages at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with a full salad bar on Tuesdays and Fridays. Donations are suggested for seniors; lunch is $4 for those under age 60. Chicken foot dominoes follows Monday and Thursday lunches. Bingo follows lunch on Tuesday and Friday. Dinner, Music and Dancing

The Center hosts an evening of dinner, music and dancing on the first and third Saturdays of the month, with live music from the Classic Country Connections Band. The cost is $8 for dinner, dancing and dessert, $4 for dessert and music or $3 for music.

Saturday breakfasts

Estacada Community Outreach hosts a free breakfast at the Center from 8-11 a.m. the third Saturday of each month except December.

Wednesday breakfasts

The center offers a $5 breakfast for all ages at 9 a.m. Wednesdays with a door prize drawing and pinochle and cribbage following breakfast for those interested. Call 503-630-7454 for bus service to breakfast.
