Repairs scheduled on Carver Bridge

One lane on the Carver Bridge will be closed for short-term pavement repairs beginning Tuesday, May 29. The project is scheduled to be completed by Friday, June 1. Work will take place from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. While the road will remain open during construction, there will be potential delays of up to 20 minutes at a time.

Children invited to learn to fish from experts

Staff from the Mt. Hood National Forest and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will host a free youth fishing clinic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Small Fry Lake at the North Fork Reservoir.

Though the event is intended for children 11 and younger, young adults and parents are also invited. Children will have the opportunity to fish with an expert, learn "catch and release" techniques and learn how to cast.

Participants should bring lunch, warm clothing, a cooler to bring home their catch and a rod and reel if possible. Bait and limited numbers of rods and reels will be available.

Those 13 and younger must be accompanied by an adult, and fishing licenses are required for everyone older than 12. Licenses will not be available at the event.
