Antique store plans vintage markets
This summer, Wade Creek House Antiques will connect visitors with a variety of one-of-a-kind items while enjoying the bright summer weather.
The coopertive's annual Vintage Outdoor Markets are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 16, and Saturday, Aug. 11, at 644 N.W. Wade St.
Becky McFarland of Wade Creek House estimates that approximately 60 vendor spaces will be occupied and that many items will be available for purchase.
"You name it. (The vendors) are all scavengers and collectors and work hard
at finding stuff," she said. "Everything is different.
You won't find two things alike."
McFarland noted that some vendors find items at estate sales or garage sales, while others make the creations themselves.
While browsing the wares during previous years, she's found everything from tables and chairs to a wool military blanket.
Along with the vendors and everything they have to offer, the Vintage Outdoor Markets will also features live music from Rick, Barb & Friends, karaoke organized by James Calhoun of NW Hi-Tech Solutions and refreshments available for purchase from The Mason Jar and Fire and Knives BBQ. Additionally, the Estacada Farmers Market will take place alongside the Vintage Outdoor Markets on the Wade Creek House property.
Those interested in becoming a vendor for the event should call Wade Creek House Antiques at 503-630-7556 or stop by the store.
McFarland said she enjoys watching people find items at the Vintage Outdoor Markets.
"It's people finding treasures," she said. "When you have something, it's a compliment when someone buys that item and it gets to go to a new home."
