Cruise-in will bring cars to Timber Park
Interested in seeing a variety of cars while supporting the Estacada Area Food Bank?
If so, mark your calendar for the 13th annual Old Time Cruise to Estacada, organized by the Route 26 Cruisers.
The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Timber Park, 30878 N.W. Evergreen Way, and proceeds will benefit the food bank. Last year, the event raised more than $2,500, and those who bring a can of food to this year's event will receive a free ticket for the drawing.
The cruise-in features 27 categories, including imports, rat rods, under construction and decades spanning from the current one to 1929 and older. New this year is the "best orphan" category, which will feature cars that are no longer manufactured.
In each category, a first and second place winner will be selected.
Along with the vehicles on display, the event will feature an engine blow, during which all of the oil and water is removed from the engine, and participants the bet to see how long it will run.
There will also be live music from RJ the DJ, a silent auction, prize drawings and a variety of vendors selling food and other items.
Registration for the cruise-in is $15 per vehicle, and forms are available at www.route26cruisers.com. The first 125 participants to register are eligible for dash plaques and goodie bags.
Nancy Horton, one of the event's organizers, appreciates the wide range of vehicles the event draws in.
"It's amazing the amount of wonderful cars and trucks from our own Estacada area," she said. "Every year it's more and more."
