Anniversary event for state park scheduled

The 50th anniversary celebration for Milo McIver State Park will start at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, July 29. The free festivities will include guest speakers, historical displays and the unveiling of the park's new viewpoint. At 7 p.m. there will be a concert featuring classical pianist Hunter Noack. Concert attendees should bring a blanket or lawn chair. Milo McIver State Park is at 24101 S. Entrance Road.

Library workshop focuses on food

The Estacada Public Library will team up with the Oregon State University Extension Service and Food Hero Program to present "Plan, Shop, Save & Cook," a free two part workshop that will help participants make healthy food choices with a limited budget. Space for the workshop is capped at 20 participants, and registration is required.

The events, which will be presented in both English and Spanish, will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, and Friday, Aug. 24. To register, stop by the library at 825 N.W. Wade St. or call 503-630-8273.

Wheeler, Riedel will lead school board

For the 2018-19 school year, Ben Wheeler will continue to serve as chair of the Estacada School Board, and Ken Riedel will continue to serve as vice chair. The two were re-elected to their positions during a board meeting on Wednesday, July 11.

Local students graduate from CCC

At Clackamas Community College, 1,442 students received degrees and certificates for the spring term. During the school's commencement ceremony on Friday, June 15, graduates ranged in age from 17 to 70.

New CCC alumni from Estacada and Eagle Creek include Trixie Ann Hall, Thomas Richards, Gregory L. Willis, Clinton Berklund, Lauren A. Dolezal, Krysten Drury, Cole S. Eakin, Gaven M. Foster, Ramon Garcilazo, Nicola M. Sampair, Laura R. Stuart, Marissa Taplin, Mollie Thurber and Joseph Curtis Walker.
