Granny's adds new desserts to menu
Things at Granny's just got a little sweeter.
The restaurant at 156 N.W. Sixth Ave. recently purchased a new ice cream machine that will allow for numerous combinations of flavors. The machine can swirl two flavors of ice cream together or add a burst of flavor into vanilla ice cream.
Burst flavors include chocolate, strawberry, bubblegum, cotton candy, tropical orange, green apple, caramel and butter pecan.
Granny's manager Kari Locke said along with creating more options for customers, the new machine produces a higher quality of ice cream. The desserts are lighter and able to better retain their shape because the machine pumps more air into them.
"Before, we wouldn't have had the ability to do the burst, and the cones used to have to go in dishes because the ice cream wouldn't hold up," Locke added.
Customers at Granny's are enjoying the new dessert options.
Locke noted that the bubble gum and cotton candy flavors have been big hits with the restaurant's younger customers. Her favorite is the tropical orange.
Granny's also soon plans to offer dipped chocolate cones.
Along with the updated ice cream machine, the restaurant is also enjoying a new burger grill that has brought cooking times down from 7 minutes to 2 minutes. The new device has grills that cook the burger from top and bottom.
Staff members at Granny's are excited to continue serving the community with both new and established menu items and will provide food for several upcoming events at Estacada schools.
