Clackamas County Sheriff's Office will host event at Portland International Raceway

Registration is open for Clackamas County's Fourth Annual Drive with a Cop event, which pairs teenagers with deputies for a day of behind-the-wheel training and classroom time. The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, Portland International Raceway, 1940 N. Victory Blvd. It will include hands-on driving with deputies, speakers who have been impacted by the loss of family members in teen driving crashes, impaired goggles to demonstrate the dangers of driving while intoxicated, a crash reconstruction presentation and a session for parents on teen brain development.

"Car crashes are the number-one killer of teens nationwide," said Sheriff Craig Roberts. "Drive with a Cop gives us an opportunity to teach young drivers about the dangers of driving impaired and distracted, so that they can make better decisions on the road."

Registration, which is $10, can be completed at www.drivewithacop.com.
