The city of Estacada was recently honored for employee safety.

Citycounty Insurance Services, or CIS, has awarded Estacada a gold medal for its record of worker safety, meaning that there were no time-loss injuries during 2017-18.

"The award showcases cities that foster employee safety, have a proven track record related to safely operating equipment and machinery, and where management has a clear commitment to a safe work environment," a press release from CIS read.

The awards, open to all municipalities that belong to the League of Oregon Cities, are determined by the number and duration of time-loss injuries, compared to the number of hours employees worked in a year.

Previously, Estacada received a silver medal for 2015-16 and a gold medal for 2014-15.
