Crowe takes interim lead of fire district
Jason Crowe is acting as Estacada's interim fire chief after Bob Morrisey's retirement.
Morrisey had been chief of the Estacada Rural Fire District since 2012. He submitted his retirement on Thursday, Oct. 4.
"His retirement marks the end of an era," said Crowe during a meeting of the Estacada Rural Fire District's Board of Directors on Thursday, Oct. 18, noting that Morrisey played a key role in developing the fire district's doctrine.
The Estacada News was unable to reach Morrisey for comment.
Crowe's previous role was Division Chief of Emergency Services, and he has been with the Estacada Rural Fire District since 1999.
"I plan on serving with honor and integrity," he said. "My job is to make sure (our employees) have the tools to do their job. With the board, I want to help provide them with information to make decisions for the future of Estacada, where we go and what we do."
Crowe noted that the Board of Directors' focus for the next several months will be the organization's internal audit. After that, they will focus on selecting a permanent leader for the district.
