Gant will continue to serve on City Council
Aaron Gant has been appointed to the Estacada City Council position vacated last month by Lanelle King when she moved outside of city limits.
Gant has served on the council since 2014 and has been the group's president for two years. His new term will expire in December 2020.
During a meeting on Monday, Nov. 26, councilor Justin Gates made the motion to appoint Gant to the position.
Gant ran for reelection in the Nov. 6 election, during which the candidates with the three highest number of votes earned a position on the council. Though Gant was not among the election's winning candidates, he garnered the fourth highest amount of votes.
"It's kind of like the people have already spoken," Gates said.
In his application, Gant wrote that he wished to
continue serving the community.
"I feel like we have a lot of unfinished business at this point and I would like to continue my service to the community through a position on the City Council. We have a tremendous amount of positive momentum at this point," he wrote.
Fellow Estacada residents Bryan Short and Patricia Allen had also applied for the position.
