Will Johnston was appointed to the Estacada School Board during a meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 12.

Johnston fills the board's zone two position after Jeromy Adamson's resignation last month because he is moving out of the district. Adamson had served on the board since 2013, including a stint at the group's president.

The board was unanimous in its vote to appoint Johnston. His term runs through July 30, 2019.

Johnston, who has lived in Estacada since 2013, has three children in the district. He works with virtual charter schools around the U.S., though he does not have any affiliation with Summit Learning Charter in Eagle Creek.

"My kids are in this district, and I want to help in any way I can," he said. "(This is) a good opportunity for me to integrate my family into the community."
