Estacada business group will bring changes to several events in the coming months

FILE PHOTO - One event on deck this year for the Estacada Chamber of Commerce is the annual community recognition event. In 2018, Shirley McAdoo was honored as Estacadan of the Year during the ceremony.

This year, the Estacada Chamber of Commerce will bring new elements to several established traditions.

The Chamber's Board of Directors will continue to host their spring gala, shop local and community recognition events. The spring gala is scheduled for Saturday, April 27, the community recognition event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 12, and the shop local event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 30.

A new event the Chamber is hosting this year is a shred day, during which attendees can bring in personal documents to be securely shredded. The event will take place on Saturday, May 4, in the Estacada City Hall parking lot.

Additionally, Chamber members will update the www.estacadachamber.com and www.visitestacada.com websites in order to maintain a dynamic online presence.

This year will also see several changes to certain Chamber events. Good Morning Estacada and Business After Hours will be held quarterly rather than monthly, and some leadership luncheons will be held at local businesses rather than City Hall.

"We want to allow business to host the lunches and promote themselves," said Chamber president Brent Dodrill.

In particular, Dodrill noted that he is looking forward to the community recognition event.

"We recognize people who really make the community what it is," he said. "It's great to promote volunteers and those who invest in the business community."

Dodrill hopes to honor more of the community's younger members.

"We're excited to get more youth nominations and highlight the outstanding young people in our community," he said.

He also praised the Chamber's Board of Directors for their enthusiasm.

"We have an active, passionate and committed board. We've put together a good group," he said.

Dodrill noted that the Chamber continues to grow and gained 27 new members in 2018.

"The Chamber is being seen as a good place for businesses considering investing in so we can market and promote them," he said.
