Fire district selling properties
The Estacada Rural Fire District is planning to sell several vacant properties to fund a remodel of the station's kitchen, which has been closed for several months because of lead paint and asbestos.
The fire department's Board of Directors approved the liquidation of the properties during a meeting on Thursday, March 21.
The department owns property on Short Street and Springwater Road, neither of which are in use. The Springwater property was donated to the department, but surveys of the land have indicated that it is not large enough to hold a fire station. The Short Street property was initially purchased by the department as a new location for its training facility, but since the department remodeled its current station rather than building a new one, there is no need to move the facility.
Estacada Fire Department leaders will soon meet with a real estate agent to determine the details of the sales. They hope to have repairs to the station's kitchen completed by the end of June.
