The Downtown Estacada Association has received a $200,000 Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant to fund upgrades to the Broadway Building.

The revitalization of the building, which is home to Mossy Rock at 398 Broadway St.; Award Embroidery at 398 Broadway St.; Estacada Insurance Mart at 115 S.E. Fourth Ave., a three-bedroom apartment; and the "Happy Trails" mural, will focus on exterior improvements to highlight the building's features and history.

The Broadway Street side of the building will receive new doors, windows, lighting, stucco and awnings. There will be new lighting on the Fourth Street side of the building to highlight "Happy Trails." Additionally, electricity to the building will be relocated underground during the renovation process.

Ken Streater, who has owned the building for about 15 years, is looking forward to seeing the work completed. A groundbreaking ceremony is planned in July.

"I look forward to having a building that's very attractive and supportive of the downtown Estacada vibe," he said. "Hopefully the building will add to the appeal of downtown Estacada."

The Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant was created during the 2015 legislative session. According to a press release, "the funds must be used to award grants to participating Oregon Main Street Network organizations to acquire, rehabilitate or construct buildings to facilitate community revitalization. The program also requires that 50% of the funds go to rural communities as defined in the bill."
