A new food cart in Estacada is serving a variety of teriyaki dishes.

Irene Wong and Johnny Lo opened VIJ Eatery at 437 N.E. Main St. in April.

"We like this place. It's quiet and peaceful," Wong said. "People like this kind of food. It's good for business."

They also operate another food cart in Sandy.

VIJ Eatery's menu features numerous teriyaki bowls, including chicken rice, chicken yakisoba, beef rice, beef yakisoba, vegetable rice and vegetable yakisoba. There also are teriyaki boxes available with chicken rice, chicken breast rice and beef rice that come with broccoli, cabbage and carrots.

The establishment's signature chicken rice teriyaki bowl is only $5.

There are also a variety of sauces to top off any meal, and options include teriyaki sauce, creamy spicy sauce, sweet and sour sauce, sweet chili sauce and Szechuan spicy sauce. Lo and Wong make the teriyaki and creamy spicy sauces themselves.

Some of the food cart's most popular items include chicken and beef bowls.

"People comment (that) they like the sauce, noodles and portions," Wong said.

VIJ Eatery is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and Wong and Lo said they are eager to continue feeding the Estacada community.

"I like teriyaki," Wong said. "We're selling what we like to eat."
