American Legion Cruise-In

The Estacada American Legion Carl Douglas Post will host its annual car show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 6, outside the Viewpoint Restaurant, 20189 S. Springwater Road. Registration is $15 per vehicle, and those who register prior to July 6 will be eligible for the free breakfast buffet. River Festival

DJ Jonny Blaze's third annual River Fest is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Promontory Park, 40600 S.W. Highway 224. The day will feature artists performing in genres from hip hop and rock to pop and classical, along with kayak and miniature paddle boat races, a giant water balloon fight, boxing on the water and a variety of refreshments for purchase.

Star Gazing Party

At 9 p.m. Friday, July 12, Rose City Astronomers will stop by Timber Park, 30878 N.W. Evergreen Way, for a star gazing party.

Open House

Out to Pasture Animal Sanctuary's open house is scheduled from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at 33190 S.E. Regan Hill Road. The event will feature sack races and other games, a cupcake walk, free vegan barbecue, bake sale, raffles, a watermelon eating contest and a chance to meet the animals. TriMet Event

TriMet will host an event for patrons to exchange their paper tickets for a Hop card loaded with an equivalent value from 3:30-6 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, at the Estacada Community Center, 200 S.W. Club House Drive. For more information, visit

Route 26 Cruisers Car Show

The Route 26 Cruisers will host their annual Old Time Cruise to Estacada from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Timber Park, 30878 N.W. Evergreen Way. The day will include music, an engine blow, vendors, a silent auction, homemade quilt auction, a 50/50 drawing, a dunk tank with members of the Estacada High School cheer and dance teams, and a variety of cars to admire. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Estacada Area Food Bank.

Yoga Classes

Beginning vinyasa and hatha yoga classes are held at 2:30 p.m. Mondays and 7 p.m. Tuesdays at the Viola Community Club, 22364 S. Redland Road. Classes are suited for all skill levels. The cost is $5 per class.

Quilt Club

The Estacada spinning and fiber arts group meets from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Fridays at Betty Veveiros CPA, 309 S.W. Highway 224.

Texas Hold'em Poker

A free Texas Hold'em poker game is held from 7-9 p.m. every Thursday at the Country Restaurant, 341 Main St. Another game of mad poker is at 7 p.m. Mondays at the Cazadero Inn, 352 S.W. Highway 224. Prizes are included.

Food Bank

The Estacada Area Food Bank is open from 10-11:45 a.m. and 12:30-3:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays. Food is available monthly to community members in Estacada, Eagle Creek, Colton, Carver and Barton who meet income requirements. To join the all-volunteer organization or to get food, call 503-630-2888 or stop by the Food Bank at 272 Broadway St.

Bilingual Storytime

Stop by the library for stories, rhymes, and songs in English and Spanish from 1-1:45 p.m. the first Saturday of every month.

Storytime and Playgroup

Scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Fridays, this playgroup features stories, songs, crafts and a healthy snack. The focus is on structured play and kindergarten readiness. Siblings are welcome.

Music and Movement Storytime with Ms. Deborah

Scheduled from 11-11:45 a.m. Tuesdays, this storytime uses music and movement to help children develop early literacy skills.

Summer Learning Week

From 1:30-3:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, through Friday, July 12, Summer Learning Week will feature a variety of hands-on and educational projects.

LEGO Session

At 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, attendees will make block creations that move using LEGO Technic and power functions.

Felted Aliens

At 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, participants ages 10-18 will create felted aliens with artist LeBrie Rich. Pre-registration is required, and the event is limited to 25 people.

Creature Teachers

At 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, the Creature Teachers will return to the Estacada library for a presentation about exotic animals.

Museum of Natural and Cultural History Presentation

At 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, the Museum of Natural and Cultural History will connect attendees with experiments about what makes Earth special.

End of Summer Reading Party

At 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, all are invited to celebrate the end of the Summer Reading program with crafts and popsicles.


Alcoholics Anonymous

An Alcoholics Anonymous group meets from 7-8 p.m. every Thursday at the Estacada First Baptist Church, 29101 S.E. Eagle Creek Road. Another AA group meets from 7-8:30 p.m. Mondays and Fridays at Saint Aloysius Hall, 297 N.W. Broadway St. This group also holds a speaker's meeting on the first Friday of the month.

Narcotics Anonymous

A Narcotics Anonymous group meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at 295 N.W. Wade St. Call 503-290-4507 for more information.

Grief Share

The Grief Share group is there for people who have lost a close friend or loved one, helping to turn mourning into acceptance and to remind them of the joy that remains in life. Grief Share groups meet from 2-4 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays at Clackamas Valley Baptist Church, 29275 S.E. Eagle Creek Road. The groups do not meet on holidays.


City Council

The Estacada City Council meets at 7 p.m. Monday, July 8, at Estacada City Hall, 475 S.E. Main St.

School Board

The Estacada School Board meets at 7 p.m.Wednesday, July 10, in the Estacada High School Choir Room, 355 N.E. Sixth Ave.

Fire District

The Estacada Rural Fire District Board of Directors meets at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at 261 S.E. Jeremy Loveless Ave.

Cemetery District

The Estacada Cemetery District meets at 5 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at City Hall, 475 S.E. Main St. There will not be a meeting in July. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday,

Aug. 1.

Volunteer Opportunities

The center needs volunteers for many different jobs, including Meals on Wheels drivers, drivers to medical appointments, kitchen and dining room help, answering phones and greeting visitors, and yard work. Call 503-630-7454 for more information on how to volunteer.

Blood Drive

There will be an American Red Cross Blood Drive from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, at the Center. Schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-733-2767.

Weekday Lunches and Games

Lunch is served in the center's dining room for all ages at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with a full salad bar on Tuesdays and Fridays. Donations are suggested for seniors; lunch is $4 for those under age 60. Chicken foot dominoes follows Monday and Thursday lunches. Bingo follows lunch on Tuesday and Friday.
