Fresh food takes center stage at new Estacada establishment
A new restaurant in Estacada is striving to connect customers with fresh and healthy eats.
Vitality Juice Co. opened at 640 N.W. Wade St., in late June and is serving smoothies, juices and a variety of food items.
"We thought it would be really neat to offer the community new, healthy food options," said Brittany Barstad, the establishment's owner. "We do a lot from scratch. That's the goal."
Local produce is another important element at Vitality, and many of their items come from a nearby farm in Eagle Creek.
"Everything is organically sourced," Barstad said. "We'll have different foods as they're in season."
Smoothie flavors at Vitality include a berry medley, peanut butter and coffee, and several meal options are available.
"Our food menu is a hidden gem," Barstad said. "People come for the smoothies, and then they see the menu."
Brunch items available at Vitality include avocado toast, soft boiled eggs, biscuits and gravy, steel cut oats, a grain bowl, pulled pork sliders and a Nutella banana chimichanga. There are several acai bowls, including one with an acai, banana and apple base, topped with probiotic granola and fresh seasonal fruit; and another with a blend of acai and foraged berries, Greek yogurt, chia and ice.
Vitality also offers a one-day juice cleanse package, which gives customers the option to solely consume juice over a certain period of time. The package contains two green juices, a purple juice made from beets and carrots, an anti-inflammatory orange juice with turmeric and black pepper, and a yellow juice with pineapple, apple, lemon and ginger.
"Juices can help improve your digestion and provide an array of benefits," Barstad said. "(The cleanse is) primarily a way to give your body a rest from processing fat, additives and other toxins."
The establishment has both indoor and outdoor seating, and staff hope to provide a peaceful spot for customers to visit.
"It's a relaxing environment. There's a breeze that flows through," Barstad said.
Barstad appreciates working across from Wade Creek Park and neighboring local schools. She hopes the central location will help them connect
local youths with nutritious food.
"We want to be a healthy option for the kids," she said.
