Estacada fire volunteers will host yard sale on Saturday, Oct. 12 to help fund new communication headsets

The Estacada Fire Volunteer Association is fundraising for new communication devices for the district's engines and water tenders.

The volunteer association hopes to purchase headsets that will block out loud background noises during calls. The equipment will also allow crew members to talk clearly to one another on the radio.

"Without these headsets, communication is, at times, challenging and difficult to understand," Estacada Fire Volunteer Association President Bryce Hambelton wrote in a letter to community members.

One of the fire district's engines is outfitted with the new headsets and the volunteer association plans to purchase four additional ones. Each set is approximately $7,500.

The volunteer association will host a benefit yard sale from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the fire station, 261 S.E. Jeremy Loveless Avenue, to kick off their fundraising efforts.

Donations will be accepted for the sale. For more information, call the fire district at 503-630-7712.
