College hosts Russian leaders
Clackamas Community College will soon host a delegation of educational leaders from Russia.
Through the Open World program, CCC will host the visitors from Nov. 1-9 as they examine the theme of "Online and Blended Learning for Universities and Secondary Schools."
The visiting delegates are educators from Northern (Artic) Federal University, Tyumen State University, St. Petersburg branch of the National Research University, Vladimir State University and the International School of Programming. A bicultural facilitator and interpreter will also be in attendance.
A press release said that "Managed by the independent Open World Leadership Center, Open World introduces rising leaders of emerging democracies to legislative functions essential to democracy. Open World maintains a network of leaders who have gained significant, firsthand exposure to America's democratic, accountable government and free-market system."
While in Oregon, the delegation will visit Oregon State University in Corvallis, the OSU Downtown Portland Center, Portland State University and the Lumen Learning organization. Additionally, Clackamas Community College's Small Business Development Center will demonstrate its statewide teleconferencing system, and delegates will meet with U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer's staff to learn about the U.S. legislative process.
