Estacada Relay for Life hosts bingo night
Estacada Relay for Life is gearing up to begin its next season with an evening of spaghetti and bingo.
The annual kickoff event is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7. Dinner is served at 5 p.m., and bingo begins at 6 p.m.
During the fundraiser for the American Cancer Society at the Estacada Community Center, attendees can learn more about the local Relay for Life efforts.
Relay for Life is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society that seeks to spread awareness of the disease, celebrate those who have survived and honor those who did not. During the 24-hour event, which will take place later this year, team members take turns walking laps on the track. Typically, there is at least one person on the track at all times.
Along with the big gathering, Relay teams host a variety of fundraisers and events throughout the year.
During the Feb. 7 event, attendees can play bingo and blackout. There will be a variety of prizes, including a flat-screen TV. Bingo cards are $5 each or $10 for three
The menu for the evening includes spaghetti, French bread, salad, coffee and juice. Ice cream sundaes are available for an additional $3.
For Brande Miltenberger, one of the event's organizers, the best part of the evening is seeing people come out to support Relay for Life. Typically, between 80 to 100 people attend.
"It's a lot of fun," she added. "You get to meet people in the community and support a good cause."
