Crash at the Eagle Nest Ranch Airport appeared to occur during takeoff, pilot was the only occupant of the aircraft

A pilot involved in a small plane crash at the Eagle Nest Ranch Airport in Eagle Creek on March 18 was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

Crews responded to a report of a crash at about 4:37 p.m., Wednesday, which appeared to occur during the plane's takeoff. The pilot, who was the only occupant, was removed from the aircraft by bystanders prior to crews arriving. The individual was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to a nearby hospital.

Nearby trees caught fire in the crash, but were quickly extinguished.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Clackamas Fire, Sandy Fire and AMR responded to the incident, which is still being investigated.
